Some weeks ago the local team got a nice present from namics: An brand new X-Box 360!
Funny enough we haven't really played it yet in the office, mostly because the proper VGA cable is not yet available in Switzerland.
Over the x-mas days i decieded to take the 360 home with me, to play a few games.
Funny enough, the best and most addictive game on the 360 is not PGR3, it's not NFSMW and it's not even Perfect Dark Zero. No, it most defenitly Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Geo Wars is a very simple 2D old-school arcade game, with a fancy eye-candy makeover. It can be bought in X-Box Live for about 5 euros. Pure bang for the buck. Those with an 'old' X-Box, can find this game as an add-on in PGR2.
It looks something like this...

...but this picture will not do it justice. You have to see it in motion with sound. This game redefines the terms hectic and multitasking.
I't somehow feels 'elite' to play a game a on 'next-gen' console, that would run just as fine on a Playstation 1 :-P
After a few attempts I manged to achive 50′000 points in this game, and man, was I mighty proud of myself. Then I played some more, and result: my highscore was 104′000! Then I found this post in the GameSpot forum.
Someone called xTHeDoGgx posted a link to a movie, showing him or her playing Geo Wars up to 4′192′000 points!
You can get the movie here: http://files.filefront.com/GeoWars4millionxTHeDoGgx_Domal/;4512208;;/fileinfo.html (be warned, its 160 MB, and the servers are not very fast)
If you think your reflexes are fast, and your eye-hand coordination is good, then have a look at this movie, and learn that both you and I utterly suck.
xTHeDoGgx is my God of Geo Wars. Full Point.
The LeaderBoards of the X-Box360 are a nice feature, but somehow its just to much information. (Hey, your ranked 23′431th in Geo Wars) ![]()
Okay, enought ranting... let's see wheter I can crack the 150k mark in Geo Wars. (have i noted that it is addictive?)
